As a result of my research into the human mind, the IG algorithm pushed me a mini episode clip of Joe Rogan that got me intrigued by the topic of 1 Enoch. Growing up as a converted Catholic from an Asian family, I was never really big into religion. It was always something that just needed to be done because my parents said so, and anyone who dared to defy such parental "scriptures" would learn it the hard and often painful way. As a result, religion became something that existed on paper rather than a living part of my identity.
Over time, I began to see that religion is something that keeps the world sane, something that holds the wild and animalistic parts of the id at bay. Without some sense or resemblance of a higher being, the world would easily fall into chaos and lawlessness. In fact, I believe religion lies at the very foundation of human evolution. Without knowledge and without philosophical understanding of the world around us, humans as a species, homo sapiens, might not have lasted until today.
Religion became something that existed on paper rather than a living part of my identity.
That said, we can see some of these dynamics playing out in the world today even with religion in place. If the Book of Enoch, as I understand it, touches the core of good and evil and how evil is born, then perhaps it is something worth knowing, something that helps make the world around us more palatable.
